{"id":1501,"date":"2017-04-12T10:29:03","date_gmt":"2017-04-12T04:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/?p=1501"},"modified":"2017-05-05T09:51:06","modified_gmt":"2017-05-05T04:21:06","slug":"indian-legal-education-conclave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/indian-legal-education-conclave\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Legal Education Conclave"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Rajiv Maheshwari speaks about inculcating curiosity, creativity and confidence in students\u00a0as they prepare to enter legal practice, at the Indian Legal Education Conclave organised by Careers360.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.careers360.com\/articles\/ilec-2017-clarion-call-for-curriculum-re-look\" target=\"_blank\">The Conclave brought together vice chancellors and academic heads<\/a> from notable law schools for a t\u00eate-\u00e0-t\u00eate on the challenges of evolving not just law curriculum but recognizing the demands of real world practice.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qQwyWsXprC8?start=642&amp;end=790\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nAligning academia with industry realities is a theme gaining momentum with every passing batch of students under the impression that\u00a0legal practice is\u00a0formulaic and the right answer\u00a0is as easily found as &#8220;turning to the end of the book&#8221;. Pervasive was discussion on not just changes to curriculum but, perhaps, changes also in pedagogical focus\u00a0will equip students better to deal with the abstractness of real world practice.<\/p>\n<p>Our education system, both at the school and college level, was birthed with the Renaissance. However, the disruptive world order calls for re-imagining our approach to education. The current academic system churns out students that find it challenging to adjust to the realities of the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/challenges-of-graduating-to-the-real-world\/\" target=\"_blank\">real world<\/a>\u2019.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1541 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/DSC5887-1024x936.jpg\" alt=\"indian legal education conclave 2017 rajiv maheshwari careers360 ilec\" width=\"286\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/DSC5887-1024x936.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/DSC5887-438x400.jpg 438w, https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/DSC5887-768x702.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The information explosion coupled with much greater digital exposure for young children has materially altered the manner in which college students seek, absorb, retain, retrieve, process and present information.<\/p>\n<p>The formal education system does not mark the end of learning, which can be nothing but a <a href=\"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/rise-of-autodidacts-in-the-knowledge-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\">life-long process<\/a>. We have institutionalized our learning program in the form of CLE 365<sup>o<\/sup>, a holistic learning program that goes beyond the traditional full circle.<\/p>\n<p>Bridging the gap between the law school output and the input expectations of the corporate world and law firms, we collaborated with Careers360 to create <a href=\"https:\/\/old.anandandanand.com\/oldupdates\/legal-apprentice-challenge-yields-21-worthy-winners\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Legal Apprentice Challenge<\/a>.
